WHAT IS BLOG NATION?

Blog Nation is an active and vibrant community of blog directories. Our goal with Blog Nation is to feature almost entirely user-generated content, so we encourage all members to submit feedback on blogs, boost up blogs you like, and manage your own blog listing. HOW DO I JOIN AND WHY SHOULD I?

Blog Nation is a fantastic way to attract new readers to your blog. If you utilize the features we offer (such as boosting, reviewing, and signing up for an account), you will benefit from increased viewership and more. Additionally, having a link on our page will help improve your Google rankings!

Joining is fast and easy. Simply submit a blog using the button on the right hand sidebar and your blog will be well on its way to being part of Blog Nation. If you have another blog you'd like to submit, we encourage you to add it to this directory or check out the Blog Nation's other directories to see if our other directories are better suited for your blog.

DOES IT COST ANYTHING TO JOIN?

No! All the benefits you get from belonging to the directory are free!

WHAT IS BOOSTING?

When somebody clicks the "boost" button next to your directory listing, Blog Nation tallies the boost as the equivalent of one vote. The more votes a blog has, the higher it will appear in the directory. Boosts can also be gained by users clicking on the "Blog Nation" badge featured on your own blog and filling out all of the necessary information for a blog's directory listing.

THE INS AND OUTS OF COMMENTING AND RANKING

You can rate and comment on other blog's profiles. While comments won't directly influence the ranking of your blog, the number of boosts your profile receives will. Nevertheless, comments do affect how people see your blog. A profile that is actively commented on will indicate a more popular and interesting blog. Therefore, it is always a good idea to encourage your readers to participate in directory discussions.

HOW DOES YOUR SITE HANDLE INAPPROPRIATE CONTENT?

We do our best to ensure a positive and appropriate directory, but sometimes things slip through the cracks. If you see a profile or comment that you believe to be inappropriate or breaking the rules, please send us an email and let us know. Include a link to the blog profile or comment in the body of the email and use 'Flagged Content' as the subject.

WHY SHOULD I PUT UP A BADGE?

Many reasons, but the primary one is that in order to verify that the blog is owned by you, we need to see that you are able to access it and put a badge on the homepage. After this, we can allow you to edit your blog's description, Twitter, and Facebook information. Beyond this, by putting up a badge you will receive a set number of boost points and encourage your readers to visit the directory. This, in turn, will increase the number of comments and boosts you receive from viewers.

DON'T put the badge or link on a post where people won't be able to see it

DON'T boost your blog more than once a day - you can only vote once per 24-hour period

HOW DO I INCREASE MY BLOG'S RANKING?

We base our rankings on a variety of factors, but all are tallied into your boost total. Boost points can be gained by users "boosting" a blog profile in the directory or by your readers clicking on the Blog Nation badge displayed in the sidebar of your blog. Blogs will also receive boost points if the blog's profile is complete, this includes Facebook, Twitter, and RSS fields being filled out.

Now, you can also gain points to your Blog Nation score by referring your friends. Simply sign into your Blog Nation account and send the provided link to the interested party. If they sign-up for an account using that link, you'll get extra points added to your score.

HOW DO I CHANGE MY BLOG'S PICTURE?

The short answer is as of right now, you can't. Currently, if you sign up your blog and it is accepted to a directory, our system will automatically grab a screenshot of your blog to use as its picture. This process happens at night, so your blog may be without a picture for 12 hours.

WHY HASN'T MY BLOG MOVED FROM PENDING TO ACTIVE?

If you have put up a badge and your blog is still marked as pending, this may be because our system has not yet seen the badge. This process usually takes 15 minutes. After we have seen that you put up a badge, you should receive an email with a link that will take you back to your account and allow you to edit. If for some reason you have not received an email within 24 hours, please contact us.

HOW DO I ADD A BADGE?

After adding a blog, a badge will be sent to you via email. It is in your best interest to get the badge up on your site as quickly as possible to start gaining boosts from your readers. The badge link that you are given in the email is unique to that specific blog. It will not work if you try to put it up on a different blog, or use it again. If you have any questions regarding badges, please contact us immediately.

DOES MY BADGE HAVE TO GO ON MY BLOG'S SIDEBAR?

No! Badges can go anywhere on your site, including within a post.

IS THERE A BENEFIT TO INCLUDING SOCIAL MEDIA INFORMATION?

Yes! Not only will visitors to the directories be able to follow you more easily, but blogs with social media information filled out will receive more boost points from Blog Nation.

WHY AM I NOT MOVING UP IN THE RANKINGS?

If you are not moving up in the rankings, make sure that you have put up a badge and that it is working. If your badge seems to be in working order and you are still low in the rankings, it may be a good idea to place your badge in the sidebar and instruct your readers to click on it for more boost poitns. You can also give your blog boost points by making sure that your profile is as complete as possible. Blogs with social media information filled out, for instance, get ranked higher on Blog Nation sites.

HOW DO I LEAVE BLOG NATION?

If you would like to remove your blog from the directory, simply sing into your account and click "remove" next to your blog. If you want to resubmit your blog to the directory, you'll need to create a new account.

WHY HASN'T MY BLOG BEEN ACCEPTED?

Your site may not have been accepted to a Blog Nation directory for many reasons. If you haven't updated your blog in three months, we view said blog as inactive and will not accept it. If your blog features inappropriate content (this includes pornography, excessive swearing, and hate speech) we will not accept it on a directory. Finally, if you submitted your blog to a directory that is simply not on topic with your blog, you will not be accepted. If you feel that you should have been accepted, please email us at your earliest convenience.

WHY CAN'T I MAKE CHANGES TO MY DIRECTORY LISTING?

There are many reasons why you may not be able to make changes to your blog. If you have not signed up with a Blog Nation account, you will not be able to make changes. When signing up for an account, please make sure to use the same email you submitted your blog under so that our system recognizes that the blog was submitted by you. Even after signing up for an account, if your blog does not have a badge posted on it, we cannot verify that the blog is owned by you and therefore, cannot allow you to edit your blog's listing.

MY BADGES ISN'T WORKING ON MY BLOG. WHY?

This could be for a variety of reasons. If you're currently on a WordPress blog, make sure that you choose the designated WordPress badge, as the others are not compatible with their system. If you are still having problems, please contact us immediately.
